Powerful Benefits inside of Everyday Visioning

Having your own vision gives you more purpose and meaning to life. A vision will support you in times of doubt, especially when you face challenges and you start to question the who, what, and how you want to live your life, based on what’s most important to you. Having a vision will help you to maintain your focus and achieve your personal and professional ambitions.

When I first started my coaching business and had times of challenges and self-doubt, my own coach would always ask me to read my vision. There were times when I really did not want to do this because of the uncertainty I held on to in that moment.

What I found, however, was that reading my vision brought me back into the present and stopped the frustration and the sense of being overwhelmed. Most of all, it reminded me of what was truly important to me now. That helped me see that the challenge I was dealing with at that time was insignificant in the big scheme of my vision. In that instant, I always found a way of managing the challenge with ease.

Powerful Benefits inside of Everyday Visioning

Did you know that you already visualise every day, as you think about the daily activities that may need to be done? What happens is, you go into ‘automatic action mode’ to get through your day. The thought processes you have every moment of your day are sending messages to your brain, which then activates the body into taking an action.

All your daily actions, like eating breakfast, driving the kids to school, driving to work, reacting to traffic, choosing what to wear, going to the gym or for a walk outdoors, will always have a vision through your mind’s eye first, before you take action.

What is important about this process is that you notice what thoughts you are processing and especially the energy you attach to your thoughts. If you have a negative emotion driving your actions, then that is what you will attract. Guess what! If you have a positive enthusiastic energy behind your daily actions, then you will always attract positive experiences. As you step into your day, start noticing where you are placing your attention and practice visualising your day with enthusiasm. This will give you the confidence to create your vision beyond your everyday activities.

Everyday Visioning Tip

When you go to bed at night and your head relaxes on the pillow, consciously take some deep breaths with your eyes closed. Focus on your breathing as you begin to relax your mind, then visualise your next day the way you would like it to go – being confident at meetings, flowing through your day, asserting yourself with good energy, inspiring your team, working in the zone, communication with your family, remaining calm and relaxed etc. Allow yourself to relax into your visualisation as you fall into a peaceful sleep.

High Emotional Intelligence for Next Level Success

Did you know that you will already have foundational systems in your everyday life that are working for you? The difference in growing upon your foundational success is whether you are conscious about the systems you do have that are working for you. Or are you living every moment unconsciously reacting to circumstances always looking at what is not working for you?

Foundational Success is the rock solid personal and professional systems you put in place so you have something solid to build on each and every day. Especially whenever challenges come your way, if you have your foundation set up in your whole life, then you will have a high emotional intelligence. When you have a high emotional intelligence you will stop reacting to life’s challenges and in that moment be calm enough to consciously choose your response.

Yes, you will be able to respond without reacting to the situation in front of you. Reactions to life’s challenges causes major stress and the seesaw feeling. Every action you take is a part of a system you have set up whether it be conscious or unconscious.

Start to become conscious about the systems that are already working for you and then take a look at the actions you are sporadically taking because of reactional thinking. Then decide whether there is a better way of implementing the action and if it needs to be a repetitive system for your success. In a nutshell, it is about knowing and living your standards (the things you will and won’t accept of yourself) combined with clear boundaries (the things you will and won’t accept of others) and having the courage to continually communicate these coming from love and respect for yourself and others.

Some of the many things that set you up for reactional thinking are:

  • Not setting up your day with priority actions and doing the important things first.
  • Not placing suitable time scheduling around your priorities.
  • Not living your own standards – being everything to everybody.
  • Getting into the habit of overpromising and under-delivering.
  • Holding back on clear communication – ‘playing the guessing and assuming game’.
  • Saying ‘Yes’ when you really want to say ‘No’.
  • Not setting clear defined boundaries coming from love and respect for yourself and others.
  • Not making quality time to chill out and be with your family and loved ones.
  • Not making time to do something for yourself each day that brings you joy, fun and lightness.
  • Not having a clear vision and being disorganised.
  • Living and working amongst clutter.

Here is a simple equation to remember for next level success with high emotional intelligence.

High Emotional Intelligence for Next Level Success

To capitalise on your resources, it is paramount to have high emotional intelligence. If not, then you may be sabotaging your next level success no matter how much work you put in on the outside. Begin to take stock by becoming consciously aware of your own reactions because they are an indication that you are not living your standards and you may be crossing your own boundaries and allowing others to cross them.

Powerful Success Lies in Savouring the Moment

Enjoy this analogy…

Just imagine the next time you sit down to enjoy a good cup of tea or coffee and really savouring the moment. You must be completely in the present to enjoy your cup of tea or coffee. Only when you are in the present moment can your hands feel the pleasant warmth of the cup. Only in the awareness, can you savour the aroma, taste the fullness of the flavour and really appreciate the delicacy.

If you are thinking about the past or worrying about the future, you will completely miss the experience in the moment of enjoying your cup of tea or coffee. In an instant, you will look down at your cup of tea or coffee and it will be gone.

Life is very much like that.

If you are not fully present in the moment, you will look around and wonder where it has gone. You will have missed the special feelings, wondrous moments, and the beauty of life. It will feel like life is passing you by.

The past is ‘in the past’ and finished. Learn from the experiences of the past and gracefully let it go. The future has not happened yet. Yes, it is important to plan for it, but do not waste your time in the present worrying about it. Worrying is energy zapping and worthless.

When you stop living your life protecting yourself from what has already happened in the past, when you stop worrying about what might never happen in the future, then you will be living in the present moment.  That is when you will begin to experience joy and contentment in your life.

Have you ever experienced driving to a destination and realised you arrived without awareness of the journey! Notice how often you may be pre-occupied thinking about other matters (past or future) and not concentrating on what you are doing in the present moment.

Can you imagine if you had a bank that credits your account every morning with $86,400? What a bonus that would be! Your account carries over no balance every day. Every evening the bank deletes whatever part you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course!

Every one of us has such a bank account. Its name is TIME. Every morning it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance and it allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day. If you fail to use the day’s deposits, the loss is yours.

There is no going back. There is no drawing against tomorrow. You must live in the present on today’s deposits. Invest it wisely and get from it the utmost in health, happiness, and success! The clock is running.

Make the most of today. Make the most of NOW.

“We are what we think.

All that we are

Arises with our thoughts

With our thoughts

We make the world.”

(Buddha)

Observe yourself this week and create an appropriate ‘trigger’ which will press you to pay attention to the present…this might be a ring, an ornament, deep breathing, looking up, set the alarm on your phone?

Create an Appreciation List. Each day, list in your journal those things you are grateful for having in your life. Focus on the pleasures and delights of your daily activities and the people who are with you.

Enjoy life to the fullest living in the present.
