Knowing Yourself – Being an Authentic Leader in your Whole Life

Everyday, I have the privilege of working with people who trust and confide in me, as their confidential sounding board, discussing matters that are of their highest priority.

As a professional coach, there is an art, science and practice required to be able to hold a clear space for the client to fully show up in, and be real. This creates a safe space for deep listening to occur, so that the client can then hear, feel and sense insights with new awareness.

Many of my clients tell me they are feeling overwhelmed from information overload. Yes, knowledge is important, yet I find that many of us have become information gatherers and not able to process this for effective application. This is where overwhelm, anxiety and comparison can kick in. In fact, everyone processes differently and it is important to get to know what works best for you so that you can effectively live and work in your zone.

That’s why I love transformational coaching v’s transactional coaching.

It certainly has changed my personal and professional life for the better, which is why I believe in this work at the core of my being. There is nothing more powerful than ‘real life experiences’.

This is where transformational coaching is so much more powerful in the long run. My clients always walk away knowing exactly what next steps are right for them based on where they stand now. They create momentum in trusting their own inner mentor, connecting with their natural resourcefulness.

I often hear my clients say how surprised they are about the spectrum of insights they gain inside a 60-minute coaching conversation. Due to this, they gain greater clarity with simplicity and ease. They walk away feeling a sense of ‘lightness’, knowing who they are and what their next steps are, because of these new insights.

After a coaching session last week with the State Manager of an Engineering Organisation, I asked this question.

“How would you describe your experience in working with me?”

Her response was …

“What comes to mind straight away is an image. It is like hand holding your feelings because we have so many people hand holding our minds through training courses, university, corporate institutions, corporate lunches etc. We have all this stuff in our head, and the coaching is like awakening the spiritual, emotional and personal part of you. Including the core aspirations of what you want to do with your life.

I would say that it helps to awaken that deeper part of you, and then to connect in between, in a way that you don’t have to go and live in a tee pee in the middle of the forest. You can still be a corporate jet setter with a lot more depth and awareness, and with a lot less pain physically, emotionally and spiritually.

I would also say that it is like an awakening of the self in the depth of your being – then seeing how the two (mind and body-soul) interplay – being in alignment – in harmony – rather than competing or one trying to shut down the other.”

I then asked her…

“What type of coach do you refer me as to your colleagues?”

“I have referred you mainly as a Transformation Coach – Life Transformation.

There are times, depending on who I am speaking with, I do say you are an Executive Coach as they tend to understand this term; yet I feel that does not come close to what I experience from working with you.

Without sounding too ‘out there’, I am going to use the word ‘Awakening’ Who you really are. Authenticity comes to mind. Leading you towards knowing yourself and actually being an authentic leader.”

I absolutely love my life’s work and especially feel humbled with the variety of subjects that arise inside of the client’s agenda. Yes, my client’s bring their own agenda to each coaching conversation so they can focus in and get the maximum results out of their allocated coaching sessions. This helps to gain clarity so that the client can get straight to the core of what’s really important and what they want to achieve inside each coaching conversation.

If you feel I am speaking to you and there is something that truly resonates with you, or you may be curious about how transformational coaching can take you from where you are now to where you want to be in your personal and professional life, please contact me directly for a consultation.http://annettestanton.com/contact/

Mindful Living: Connecting with your Authentic Self

Most people live life purely in the physical body pushing and driving their actions every day feeling exhausted hoping they will achieve their vision and goals.

Whilst this is happening, they allow their mind to be scattered on everything that either needs to be done, or what they truly would rather be doing, or what hasn’t been done yet. In other words, your thoughts are all over the place causing you to easily lose focus and energy (as well as the illusion that you do not have enough time) with life passing by, not living in the present moment at all.

Generally, your real self doesn’t get a look in at all because your body and mind are flat out running the show and way too busy to hear what your inner voice is trying to tell you. Not ever giving you a chance to feel what your body is guiding you to do, which is always giving you your right actions to take.

Your Body   – the physical actions in alignment with your values
Your Mind
 – directs your thinking to support your vision
Your Spirit
 – the heart of who you are and how you want to live your life

All 3 areas are important for you to live a fulfilling life as your authentic self.

It takes courage to trust yourself, consistently taking
inspired action in alignment with your authentic self.

Most of the time you will hear yourself saying things like, “I’m too busy”, or “I don’t have enough time for that”, or “I wish I could do this”, or “I need a break from all of this”.

There is a total disconnection from your true self that is screaming at you to listen. Then you may go on a holiday hoping to release the pressure valve for a while, and then what do you do when you return from holidays? Yes, that’s right, you find yourself jumping right back on the busy cycle without changing your priorities.

It takes a conscious reminder to tune into what your spirit is screaming at your to make time for, which is normally indicating for you to set up new systems, habits and routines to maintain your natural energy flow for you to live your full potential.

3 easy steps to connect with your body – mind – spirit each day.

  1. Take a deep breathe and focus on your breath – this will help to slow your mind down.
  2. Tune into what your heart (spirit) is telling you are your most inspired actions today in alignment with your vision and values.
  3. Take physical action (body) in accordance with what your spirit is telling you.

By practicing tuning into your most powerful guidance from your spirit every day, it will always guide you to take inspired action towards fulfilling your highest vision and values. Yes, this takes conscious practice on a daily basis with your ‘to do list’ running your life. It takes time for you to connect and trust your real voice because of all the voices in your head overclouding your clarity. Be patient with yourself with plenty of self-care as you practice getting to know your authentic self.

It takes courage to trust yourself, consistently taking inspired action in alignment with your authentic self.
